Would anyone know where a sculptor can find work in canada?

my skill covers action figures, Halloween masks, busts, relief work, dental labratory work, and many others. I am capable of sculpting in a wide array of mediums and also have molding and casting skills working in various urethanes and silicones.

I'm looking for a full time position. Freelance has more drawbacks than perks, so I'm looking for something more constant like a full time position.

Would anyone know where a sculptor can find work in canada?
Have you tried applying in dental labs?

Find out if there are toymakers.

Theater set design (need a lot of carpentry skills too).

A lot of sculptors seem to do construction work/rehabbing houses.

Check out large car companies if they also design new cars. Car design models are actually still built from oil based clay and I know at least sculptors to have gotten well paid internships.

If you have a masters degree in art you can look for teaching jobs at universities (though if you don't have a good exhibition record I guess adjunct is your best bet).

You can generally look for teaching jobs, though depending where and what you might need additional formal qualifications.

You can try to get paid by some famous sculptor and join their studio, a lot don't do their own work, they design and get somebody else do at least a lot of their work.

A foundry may hire you for mold making.
Reply:I will add prosthetics labs, they use sculptors to make the pieces and there is some paintings and sealing required.

This will increase your knowledge of different materials as a perk.

You could become a forensic sculptor too and work with the local police departments.

I will suggest you to make a website and keep your freelance work on the side.

Another options would be in a foundry, casting models for other artists work.

What pens do you find work best for scrapbooking?

I was wondering if any scrapbookers on here have pen prefrences? I'm getting ready to stock up my pen supply and I didn't know which kind is the best. Creative Memories, Zig Memory system, American Craft. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What pens do you find work best for scrapbooking?
I'm partial to the Creative Memories pens (and they're well-priced).
Reply:pig pens, they have all kinds of scraps there
Reply:Zig Markers and Slick Writers are my favorites, stay away from gel pens, they rarely work well.

Which area the gold coast or the sunshine coast is better to find work as a painter decorater?

We currently live in Tassie but are thinking of heading to Queensland. My husband is a painter and decorater. Apart from Brisbane where else would there be abit of work for him Thanks Carla

Which area the gold coast or the sunshine coast is better to find work as a painter decorater?
Both areas that you mention are still building loads of houses, so the work should be available all over.

I've got about 80 houses being built right behind me right now !!! (Half way between Gold %26amp; Sunshine coast)
Reply:it's easier to find work on the gold coast, because there are more houses and people but the sunshine coast is beautiful and worth a little more effort, i'd say. caloundra/kawana areas are more affordable than noosa and probs. have more work.

What is the best freelance website to find work/projects with my solidworks skills?

I have searched around and I do not appear to have found the obvious industry standard.. i.e the one with the most jobs on :)

If anybody has any experience of touting their skills on the net on a freelance basis please type in the web address. Many thanks and best of luck in your freelancing shenanigans.

What is the best freelance website to find work/projects with my solidworks skills?
Good luck seams a lot of companies are prone to outsource their work to India, which really is upsetting because everytime any company I worked at got these drawings back we ended up having to fix them which makes the point of having someone drawing them null

So to answer your question I would post out some resumes for temp work and mention the above why you wont suck at it.

Where can I find work for community hours?

I need 40 community hours before I get to qualify for a sports university program. Does anyone here know what I should do? I have around 2 years and I need to get started.

Where can I find work for community hours?
alterserve at church help at library
Reply:The absolutely best place to volunteer is at a food bank or food pantry.

Food banks are distribution centers that receive donations, sort, box, and label food items to direct distribution sites called "pantries."

Most pantries are run by faith communities ~ Salvation Army, the Catholic Church, a number of Protestant denominations, are all churches that have food pantries somewhere in their network. Pantries always need helping with organizing food drives, picking up government commodities, repacking rice and beans, or simply to hand out food boxes.

Your County Health %26amp; Welfare agency is a really good place to call for information about the nearest food bank or food pantries.
Reply:If you have a group of friends that are altruistic (or need hours themselves), you can help keep roadways clean with the adopt-a-road program in your area. It is a great way to get out and enjoy the outdoors and help your community.

You can volunteer at your local library. They may need someone to read to children or re-shelve books. While it may seem mundane and boring, by helping the library you help contribute to your community's literacy.

Food banks and homeless shelters are always in need of volunteers. You might be boxing canned and non-perishable foods into boxes for their drive-thru feeding program or serving food to people inside.

Check to see if a local church (or your own church) needs any help with administrative work or work during the service.
Reply:i got most of mine at the local university. i'm not sure where you live.. but if you search "community service hours" and the location you are at, there may be a website with a list of places you can go to. that is how i found out about the hours i could get at the college near my house

Where can I find work experience?

I am 15 years old and am interested in doing work experience in the following areas(or similar) : pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, nanotechnology. I live in the Hampshire/Surrey, England and it would be really helpful if someone could give me an idea of where to start. Thanks

Where can I find work experience?
The best thing is having an inside connection. If you can find someone you know who works at a company you're interested in, you just need to get your foot in the door. I work at a pharma in the US and we have interns all the time. You don't necessarily have to have your hands on the technology/product to learn, it could be something as menial as filing or answering the phone. Once you get in though, get to know people, ask questions, and learn from experienced people. It sounds like I'm telling you to steal company secrets, but that's not it. I'm always happy to explain an assay or the proper way to get things done to youngins' like yourself...even though I'm not that old.
Reply:approach som professorin school nrby ur place for summer internship or som small independent project maybe,.........
Reply:Don't start to big, just in a café or something. That'a a base to get off from.
Reply:What is the legal age for workers in England? You should try an entry level position at a grocery or drug store. As a matter of fact, for a beginner like you any job should do it.

What is the best way to find work in a Non Profit Organization?

I am a senior in college as a Business student. I really want to do something for a Non Profilt organization, either domestic or abroad. I was thinking some kind of fund raising, but I am not sure how to get started. This is not the kind of position you see on CareerBuilder or Monster...

I realize working for a Non Profit may not pay much, but I really want to enjoy what I do and feel like I am doing some good. I really need to try to pull around $40,000 a year to supplement my husband's income and be sure I can afford to pay back my $40,000 in student loans I have accumulated. Any suggestions?

What is the best way to find work in a Non Profit Organization?
Most non-profits post jobs just like for-profit. In many cases, you will not even know they are non-profits or you might assume they are and find out they are not.

Decide which organizations interest you. Call them. Find out who the HR manager is. Find out if they have any openings. Do your research. Send a resume with a cover letter explaining what you can do that matches their open positions.
Reply:your local church, local food pantries, check newspapers and telephone book. some food pantries pay a small amount to have someone come in to stock shelves
Reply:Find a Non Profit organization that you believe in and give them a call or drop in with your resume. Good luck.
Reply:Before you graduate you should consider volunteering at some Non Profit's to see if you like it. They always need help even if it is just for an event or a project. Here is a nice page from the Gates Foundation that has a bunch of links about volunteering.

http://www.gatesfoundation.org/AboutUs/W...

Volunteering could also open up some career opportunities for you. Good luck!
Reply:You have the opportunity to work with Non Profits in our consumer direct marketing company. You will be able to make far more than the $40,000 that you make reference to. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Our company grossed over $700,000,000 last year. Will You Join Us?

GOOD LUCK.

Reply:With a BA or BS, you should expect to make about $40K (+- $10K) working in the private sector. You're not likely to get a $40K NFP job, right out of school. Expect salaries to be under $30K.

That said, finding these jobs often means pounding the pavement. Call up non-profits and ask them if they are accepting resumes. Many of the bigger NFP organizations have job postings on their web sites or will accept resume that way.

Although the Celtic Tiger has stopped, it is easy enough to find work. The government are very intent on keeping down unemployment and have set up such groups as FAS to help you get started.

Any job where you have direct contact with your boss should be easy enough to work out a part time settlement. Not so sure about big beaurocracies but I'm certain there must be something there for people who want to work part time.

How easy is it for non-Argentineans to find work in Buenos Aires?

My girlfriend is 23. She is Brazilian living in Spain with Spanish DNI. She speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and has excellent English. She is looking to work in Buenos Aires for a minimum of 9 months. Is there any work available? Would she need a visa? How much might she expect to earn?

How easy is it for non-Argentineans to find work in Buenos Aires?
She might have luck if she offers herself as a Portuguese teacher. A native speaker is very appreciated. Of course, she will need to know HOW to teach the language, but since she has studied other languages, too, that shouldn't be difficult for her.

If she does that, she may earn a good amount of money.
Reply:Like in every country, to work legally you need a visa "valid for work".

On the other hand Argentina is known for having many people working "en *****" (for the law, you don't work in that company), so you get paid in cash and you may have no benefits (like vacation, insurance, etc). Moreover, forget about getting paid for overtime.

If she speaks spanish, portuguese and english she should be able to get a job 'en *****'

She should not expect a big salary (my best guess is under U$S500) and how she looks (pretty, skiny, etc) is a huge factor; sad but true.
Reply:If you are from Mercosur (Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay and Paraguay) you don´t need a Visa to work in any of these countries.

Probably "spanish", "portuguese" and "english" are the most spoken languaje in Argentina, so it´s great to speak each 3 languages.

There a lot of tourists in Argentina, considering she is young, it will be easy to find a job.

But you may also consider to work in a brasilian company based on Argentina (believe, there are a lot of Brasilian companies in Arg).

Regarding salary, of course, it depends on the job, but no way to expect earning the same she is earning in Spain.

Saludos

ag.-
Reply:Very difficult; the employers there in Argentina need to prove that there is not a local or native person who can perform the same job requirements. It's an old law that is being more and more inforced these days due to the crash.

The best approach is to look at teaching opportunities prior to getting there. Otherwise, she will only get a "tourist" visa and good for 3 months.
Reply:she should be able to get a job at a restuarant, bar, or languange institute and she should be ok. not all these places require visas. many pay under the table and would be happy to receive a good employer
Reply:There are many costumer services thar are hiring native portugese speakers. Check qualfon.com.ar, teletech.com.ar, teleperformance.com.ar and ask them about the requirements.

Anyone know where to find LEGITIMATE work from home jobs??

I'm looking to supplement my income with a work from home job and I can't seem to find a LEGITIMATE one. We are having some financial trouble and I already have a second shift job. I'm a very good typist but I can't seem to find any realy work from home jobs. Any help is appreciated.

Anyone know where to find LEGITIMATE work from home jobs??
It can be frustrating when you first start looking for online work. The scams far out weigh the legitimate opportunities out there. One thing to remember is to never pay to get a job.

A good place to start looking for online work is http://workathomedesk.com which is a free site with an excellent directory of legitimate companies that hire home workers. Depending on your skills or experience, you should be able to find several good leads there. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Reply:create a blog and place ads on them or an easy way is to join up with shareapic.com where you can create your own galleries for free and post ads on them this method is less time consuming and gives better returns because the site itself pays you when people view your gallery. on an average if you have ten odd galleries you can earn upto $15 a day. possibilities are unlimited.

you can join for free by clicking the link in the source
Reply:You can visit this link http://mutualbargains.blogspot.com/ and that may help you decide what to do.
Reply:oh well as you said home job for "supplementing you main income" i am sure you would very easily be finding such a home job. but first you need to know to differentiate a scam from the genuine home job, and well i suppose the only way i belive will work is that any job offered for a paymnet are all scams and the rest are genuine and to find such a job isn't easy either... but not impossible too.... search the net for quite some time you WILL find such jobs... to give ion a strt i suppose, i can provide you info about the job i have been doing since last year, as i said didn';t make any paymnets but had got mine promptly..... well if you are interested then the sites i am mentioning here would provide you with the neccesary info... and if you need my assistance further then mail me my mail id is in my profile page unedr the "about me"..

Are there advertising professionals in the Seattle or Tacoma, WA area willing to help a WSU student find work?

Hi, my name's Matt and I'll be graduating from WSU this winter, 2006. I'll have a BA in communications: advertising major, ethics minor.

I've posted this question in hopes of making contacts in the Seattle/Tacoma area who can help me find a job when I move back to town.

I have two years experience in advertising sales and design at a small newspaper, and I'm an officer and local AAF chapter leader for the WSU Advertising Club.

I'd like to eventually become a copywriter, but I'll start anywhere. I'm currently working on my portfolio.

If I had to choose between working for a large agency or a small one, I'd choose small at this point. I like the idea of helping smaller businesses grow while sticking to a tight budget. Anybody can create a good campaign with $200 million dollars, but limited funds force you to be more creative in reaching new customers, and I like that!

So if you can help me out, or know somebody who can, please let me know. Thanks so much for your help!

GO COUGS!

Are there advertising professionals in the Seattle or Tacoma, WA area willing to help a WSU student find work?
I don't have an "in", but I've heard people make good connections with LinkedIN. You can upload all your Outlook contacts and see who's a member (free). Then you can hook up and see who's where in the world, and what they're up to... esp. if they're hiring (free again). Even cooler, you'll see if they've got connections in the area that are hiring. I think you can make up to 5 "introduction" connections with those friends-of-friends before the system makes you pay.

Good luck!
Reply:You can check into this home based business. Part time at first and your skills would fit wonderfully.

Can you tell me where a certified flagger could find work in southern oregon?

i have 7 years experience flagging in northern ca. the kids are big enough for me to go back to work, however i have no recent contacts, or oregon contacts as i am new to this state. thank you. debbie sifford.

Can you tell me where a certified flagger could find work in southern oregon?
The Oregon Department of Transporation is always looking for flaggers. I believe you would find their job requirements and where to apply at their website (http://www.odotjobs.com/). It looks like they even have a way to notify you when a position comes open. I have a friend that recently started with ODOT in southern Oregon and I believe he needed to be certified (a simple process) before being hired. Again, the job listing should tell you the requirements.

Will I be able to find work in England for only 2-3 months?

I am busy traveling around England for a month I would like to start working in August. Im looking for a nice city to work in, I have a British passport so I dont need a work visa, what type of work would I be able to do, I have a a degree in Business but Im looking for simple work!

Will I be able to find work in England for only 2-3 months?
There are a lotta jobs. My friend is over there this summer and applying at jobs, and just gotone in a bar for the next 2 or so months tilshe comes home.
Reply:yea, and especially if you have a degree
Reply:There are lots of jobs you could do particularly if you stayed in one place for a time. Join an agency, they will find you work.
Reply:Well cash in hand work would be the best if you're only going to work for that short a time. Nobody will employ you for a full time job for a few months. Try construction, security work things like that. First thing you gotta do is find yourself a TNT magazine and look in the back for jobs and stuff, you can find them at some tube stations like Southfields or Earls court. The magazine helps us Saffas out a lot!

Apart from London, what other smaller cities could an Accountant find work in?

I'm an Aussie and would work/holiday England sometime...I am not to interested in London, but would like to work in a smaller city (smaller again then say Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham).

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Apart from London, what other smaller cities could an Accountant find work in?
Accountancy is a great profession to give you mobile work options as it's a skill generally in demand worldwide.

Firstly, regarding the big cities, you have to remember that in reality each of them is actually made up of many suburbs and the actual city part itself is pretty small, that's true of London, but also Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and the other major cities. You may find that living and working in one of the suburbs is actually quite nice, and still you have access to the city for things like theatre, fine dining and the best shopping. One example of this would be the suburb of 'four oaks' near to Birmingham, it's a pleasant, green and leafy suburb, nothing like Birmingham itself, but still close by for when you need the city.

If you really want to be away from the larger cities completely, you have two main choices

1) Stay central in the country to make visiting other locations easy, in which case large towns like Warwick, Oxford, Cambridge, Cheltenham are all very nice and have good work opportunities.

2) If visiting other locations is not a priority for you and you really want to be based somewhere nice, then probably a coastal location is best, for example Brighton, Exeter, Barnstaple or other south coast towns are all good options...

How can I find the work done by the person on the rope & bucket, & avg force exerted by the person on both?

A person pulls a bucket of water up from well with a rope. initial %26amp; final speeds are 0, and person lifts bucket with vertical distance h.

How can I find the amt of work done by the person on the rope %26amp; bucket, %26amp; the avg force exerted by the person on the rope %26amp; bucket?

How can I find the work done by the person on the rope %26amp; bucket, %26amp; avg force exerted by the person on both?
Pretty simple.

Look at the initial and ending energy states:

Initial energy of the bucket and water = 0

Final energy of the bucket and water =

Potential energy = mass * height * g

= massOfBucketWater * h * 9.81 N/kg

That increase in energy is the amount of work done by the person (Wp). Average force can be calculated as follows:

Work = F * distance

Wp = Favg * height

Favg = Wp/h = massofBucketWater * 9.81 N/kg or rather simply, the weight of the bucket.

Is it possible to be an LVN and to find work elsewhere than a nursing home? Id love to work in maternity.?

I want to become an LVN (California) and think I would like to work in Maternity. Im aware that alot of LVN jobs are in LTC and nursing homes, but feel I would do better in another area of nursing, like maternity..ideas? Advice?

Is it possible to be an LVN and to find work elsewhere than a nursing home? Id love to work in maternity.?
I currently work as a STNA, and I have done my fair share of talking with the nursing staff at my facility. Your better bet would be to become a RN instead. It is double the time and ends with a degree instead of a certificate. But the pay is much better. And according to the nurses I have spoken with, many hospitals are cutting down on the amount of LPN's they hire because for every LPN, there has to be an RN above him/her. That is my plan, to become a RN.

Find work done on the block by gravitational force?

Calculate the work done on the block by the gravitational force during the 25 m slide down the plane in J. The mass is 250 N which is 25 kg. The acceleration of gravity is 10 m/s^2. A plane 25 m in length in inclined at an angle of 36.9 degrees. A block of weight 250 N is placed at the top of the plane and allowed to slide down. The coefficient is 0.6. The plane is also 20 m horizontal and 15 m vertically.

I found that the magnitude of the normal force exerted on the block by the plane is 200 N from N=mgcos (36.9). I just don't know how what to use for the work done. Please help.

Find work done on the block by gravitational force?
The work done by gravity is the force * distance done in the direction of gravity. Since gravity acts straight down, the distance is the vertical distance of the plane. The force is 250N we already know. So the work is 250 * 15 N m. As far as the gravitational field is concerned, this block simply moved 15m downward, regardless of the fact that it went there gradually on an angle.

If I Worked in the state of Virginia , moved to North Carolina and can't find work can I collect unemployment

If I Worked in the state of Virginia , moved to North Carolina and can't find work can I collect unemployment
Our situations are a little different I moved from Roanoke Va. to California and joined a union. The union being the difference I have to go threw them for a job, and don't have to write in what applications I filled out for the week, so if thre isnt a job at the hiring hall i can stay home. Anouther thing to add is the fact that its a trade union which obviously relys on the building going on at the time, if there isnt any then you have to go where there is. But yes you should be able to get Va. unemployment because of the time you worked there. I don't remember everything I had to fill out but I was going to move back to Va. but decided against it after about a month , but i received ca. unemployment the time I was there. below is a site that might help
Reply:If you worked for 40 years why didn't you retire? If you quit your job to move then you cannot collect. If you were layed off then yes you should be able to collect.
Reply:You collect from the state where you're eligible. I would assume this to be Virginia.

What is it about work and working that people find so admirable?

I was at uni for 2 and a half years, but as soon as i deferred for half a year and found some work (at McDonalds no less) suddenly people were much more proud of me because instead of learning, i was making money. Why is that I wonder? I don't understand it.

What is it about work and working that people find so admirable?
Well--this has to do with what Max Weber (one of the "classics" of sociology) called the "Protestant ethic." I'll summarize--but be aware I'm leaving a LOT out.

Work is, of course necessary--but ingeneral, was jsut part of life--until the Protesstant Reformation (c.1517 and later). Att that time, Martin Luther and others came up with the idea that everyone--not jsut the rich or talented--had a "calling"--and that for the devout person, their work, whatever it was, shold be done with the idea of serving God. Not a bad way of looking at it, when you think about it!

However--ther's a catch. When people work hard, and are thrifty--they tend to start accumulating wealth (which wasn't exactly what Luther was trying to accomplish--but that is the logical outcome, if you think it through).

So--over time this Protestant ethic--and the fact that it led geerally to a prosperous life--became very widespread. And--when the Industrial Revolution hit, itwas the perfect jstificationfor teaching workers to work long and hard in a factory, and for others to work long and hard in offices.

By the 20th century, the concept--that work was good in itself--as an endin itself-was all that was left of that original idea of the "calling"--the spiritual signifigance was longlost. Now, we commit ourselves for our entire working lives to a restrictive life that revolves around work for the sake of work--Weber called this the "iron cage."

BTW--10 years ago, I was pretty much in the same position you are. And blind to boot. I decided to quit doing what others said I "ought" to do. I went back to school--to study what I wanted to study. I'm now well on the way to completing a doctorate, on the verge of starting my own business, and at the moment work as a researcher--but I set my own hours and there isno one looking over my shoulder telling me "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean." That iron cage is deadly--but the bars are all in your own mind. Forget what other's think--find what YOU want to do--and start doing it.
Reply:Good for you!

History--along with sociology--is my field too! :) Report Abuse

Reply:That sounds shady. I mean I can understand if they were proud of you working at a huge corporate job or something you enjoy doing, but you can't honestly say you enjoy working at McDonald's and want to make it a career? My thoughts on this is that either A) You have haters in your camp that never wanted you to succeed and are sadistic and get off on your dropping out of college and working at McDonalds B) If they were supporting you through college they didn't want to try to help you get through it, and wanted you to take care of themselves to remove the burden of supporting you. Other than that, I can't imagine anyone being a cheerleader for you and encouraging you to give away a chance at earning a degree and learn something significant for a future career to work at McDonald's. Don't worry what other people think you should do, but what you have set your goals to accomplish.
Reply:i don't know.. maybe they see you as independent person.. stand at your own feet.. instead of learning.. you earn money for your studies and expenses..
Reply:The Bible says "he who will not work, will not eat" maybe they were afraid you'd starve to death and are now glad that you won't.
Reply:In brief, people can be really obsessive and anal about money, and yes, society in the United States in particular teaches that almost like a religion.

To elaborate: People can get jealous and hateful really quickly of *anyone* they see as getting a "free ride", meaning anyone who gets paid without being at least as miserable (overworked, underpaid) as they are. Also, people are generally *not* fond of the idea of having to pay for anyone else but themselves.

To some degree this is understandable....you do want people to work for a living and not go begging. But I'd submit that a lot of people, particularly in the U.S., take this idea way the hell too far. This is what happens when greed becomes the central value system, and other things, like intelligence or good citizenship or being a good social person, are devalued.

Just my two cents, so to speak. Thanks for your time. ^_^
Reply:It shows you are accomplishing something. You are out there making a living and learning the laws and rules of maintaining a job. You are showing that you are doing something with your time and putting some effort towards life.
Reply:Were these the people who were supporting you while you studied?

They may have worried that once you got your degree without work experience nobody would hire you. That's not too far fetched.
Reply:It's not about 'making money' per se...Its more about demonstrating your belief in a noble enthusiasm -working.

Whatever it is you do to in the way of labor, if it is your means of living - people will find you more attractive than, say- a lifelong bookworm who is supported by others.

I myself find joy in the most basic of labors: Carpentry and Tilework.
Reply:In a word, accomplishment. And being able to put your signature on the work.
Reply:Life is a game of money.

I'm realizing that right now.

You have money; you have respect
Reply:In a word - productivity. If you're working, you're contributing. You are part of a force providing something that people will buy. In turn, you are earning money to buy the things that other people have provided. This is what economy is, of course. In a perfect system (like that's going to happen completely), everyone works and makes the money to buy the things that others are working to make. And everyone comes out ahead - and has earned it.

I would like to work from home as a full time career, but the only sites I can find are sales/cold calling etc

I would like to find a work from home role where I can earn a good wage for a reputable company, I don't want to do surveys etc as I need a certain wage. Are there any such jobs that aren't just happened upon. Are there are any genuine websites which offer job searches etc? I don't seem to be able to find anything that will offer all of the above?

My former girlfriend did this as a career, and did it from home. She worked for 3 or 4 neurosurgeons, would pick up tapes every other day, dropping off the transcribed notes from the former pickup.

You'd have to check with the industry professionals to get current rates, but I know she was making really good money.

I was looking for home work opportunities for quite sometime and recently came across Herbalife, which is a personal well being company. I was over weight so started using the weight management products. Needless to say I lost the weight and then went on to buy their distributor business pack. I work only a couple of hours a week and make good money.

You can earn as much or as little money as you like working from home. If you need more information, you can get in touch with me and I will be happy to help.
Reply:you say you need a good wage but dont say what you do. Get a proper job first, possibly using computer then if it works out you may be able to ask that part of your working week is carried on from home. You don't say why you need to work from home.If its just because you think it will be easy - think again. To work from home and earn money you have to be very disciplined. Its all too easy to wake up and think, I'll stay in bed a little longer, or it's a nice day, I'll sit in the garden. If you don't do the work, you won't get the money. Working from home is not for everyone. You have to be disciplined and not get distracted. Very hard to do if you have TV on, keep popping into kitchen for cup of coffee, have children etc. You've got to separate yourself from home life - much better if you have an outside building or even spare room to turn into office so you can separate yourself from home life, even though physically at home.

Is it hard to find work in "the oil" in Alberta/Calgary?

I have absolutely NO experience in the oil work, how hard is it to get a floorhand or laborer job?

Is it hard to find work in "the oil" in Alberta/Calgary?
its not hard to find a job out there a work permit might help. i was out there made great money only stayed 2 years because its hard to find a place to live. i lived in a camper for the first 6 months i was there until some one stoled every thing i owned including the camper while i was at work. when i did get a place i had 8 rent increases in 17 months to the grand tune of $2800. a month and utilities on top of that. where i was living was 50 miles outside of Calgary so i would hate to see rent prices in Calgary. plus it was one heck of a commute to where the oil is. it all sounds good but i would beware as this stuff happens all the time to everyone
Reply:My goodness no. They pay is great and there is a job boom in Alberta.
Reply:It is very easy, but get in now, with all the talk of global warming and Kyoto, the work is dwindling right now. Try the survey industry, There is no break up for them, and it is coming soon, all other industries in the field will be affected. Trust me it is a very good job, with excellent opportunites.
Reply:It's really easy, all my friends that work in he oil patch started without any experience. Just e-mail youur resumes to as many places as you can find on line.

As a Chinese backpacker, is that possible to find some work in Europe and then continue to travel?
If you only hold a tourist visa (e.g. Schengen visa) then no legally it is not permitted to undertake work whilst visiting Europe

Illegally then of course there may be opportunities, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this. Employers that offer these kind of jobs, are not ones with social consciouses, they merely want cheap labour, will not pay well or give any work related benefits, you are not insured (in the case of an accident at work), and they will exploit you to the max!

If caught then the employer faces a large fine and you face deportation with no chance of obtaining a visa ever again

However, many tourists do carry on doing this anyway, but be aware of the risks and outcome, and then you can make your own decision.

In my opinion you would be better working an extra 6 months in China, saving money and then coming as a tourist and not having to worry about any of that.

What's the best way for a European to find work in the U.S.?

My Hubby is a technician here in Europe and we want to find out what qualifications he'll need to work in the U.S. before we move back to the U.S. What's the best way for us to go about doing a job search and qualification search for him?

What's the best way for a European to find work in the U.S.?
I would target specific companies and take a look at their job postings to see what qualifications they list. I'm guessing most electrician positions will be in labor unions, so joining the union will be a requirement in those cases. Sometimes union seniority will play a part in filling positions, but if a job is posted for public view, they are generally open to looking at candidates who are not currently members of the union.

The job posting will also tell you the amount of experience they're seeking, as well as any certifications or education they require. He may also need to obtain a license in the state where he'll be working.

To give you a few examples, here are the requirements for an Electrician position in Austin, TX:

Do you have an Associate-s degree and 3 years relevant experience? Please detail. Do you have experience with AC-DC drives, PLC-s, crane controls and AC-DC motors? Please elaborate. In addition to your electrical skills, please discuss your mechanical ability.

This is for a Journeyman in Oklahoma City, OK:

When did you receive your electrician license for the State of Oklahoma Describe your experience as a journeyman Explain your knowledge of installation of electrical equipment Are you able to work in NE Oklahoma.

And here's one for an Electrician in Phoenix, AZ:

- Must have 8-10 years of experience as an electrician Journeyman 1

- Must have 5-7 years of experience as an electrician Journeyman 2

- Must have 2-4 years of experience as an electrician Apprentice 1

- Must have steel toe boots.

- Must have own tools-Ask about tool list

- Must be able to pass drug test

- Must be able to pass background check

I found those particular listings on CareerBuilder.com.

How do you find work when given weight, distance and incline?

How much work is needed to push a 100. -kg packing crate a distance of 10.0 m up a frictionless inclined plane that makes an angle of 30. degrees with the horizontal?

How do you find work when given weight, distance and incline?
Before nothing, I say to you that this it is not my native language, so it excuses the grammar.

In order to begin, we must clarify that, on an inclined plane the amount of work does not change, only varies the force necessary to do it; therefore, the only thing that you must do is to multiply the weight of the packing crate by the height of the plane, it is to say:

W = w * h -------- (1)

where:

W, work necessary to raise

w, weight of the load

h, height of the plane

Since h = L*sin(theta), finally we have:

W = w*L*sin(theta) ----------- (2)

where

L, length of the plane

theta, angle formed by the plane with the horizontal

In order to verify the previous thing, you can make a decomposition of the forces that act in the system. The weight has two components, that is to say: one that is parallel to the plane and another perpendicular to the same one. This last one, is annulled with the normal force to the plane.

The weight component parallel to the plane, according to the Third Newton's Law -and supposing that the applied force is parallel to the plane also- is of equal magnitude and direction but in opposed sense to which you must apply to transfer the weight, so:

F = w*sin(theta) -------------- (3)

and, as the work is defined by:

W = F*d ----------- (4)

in this case d = L, therefore:

W = F*L ---------- (5)

Replacing (3) in (5):

W = w*L*sin(theta)

Q. E. D.
Reply:Work is defined as F*d*cos(theta)

(where theta is the angle between force and the direction of motion)

If you are close to the KC area, you could try Worlds of Fun. I hear that they hire at 15.

But, if you're not considering getting a card. You should work at the grocery store. The movies seems to have a lot of benefits... um... the sign holders. There's probably a billion more out there.... don't be too picky with the jobs or else you won't have a job at all.
Reply:at 15 you can work at any grocery store as cashier and you can work anywhere for your town starting at fourteen. Also you can work at a lbrary or as a private babysitter. To also can work n a farm and you can wrk at a reztaurat as a cashier. You are NOT allowed t handle food of any kind. Try going to google and typing n jobs at 15 in your state and a results page will cme up and give your more detailed nformation for your area because it varies in each state.

Hi I have a list of companies that outsource to home based independent contractors. Hope this list offers some assistance. There are also other avenues of finding at home transcription work. Is it really that hard for law school graduates to find work?

Someone recently told me that if I don't go to a top tier law school, it will be nearly impossible for me to find a good job. I find that hard to believe simply because most law schools boast a 93%+ employment rate for their graduates and there always seems to be a demand for legal-based jobs in America. Can someone please put my nerves to rest and explain to me if this is true and, if so, is law school really worth it?

Is it really that hard for law school graduates to find work?
the issue for many law grads is not finding work it is the pay.

93% placement means NOTHING, what is important is where and with whom the placement is.

school is expensive and the average attorney does not make that much in relation to all the other graduate professions.

this makes paying for school hard to justify for many.

Median salaries of lawyers 9 months after graduation, 2005 Type of work:

All graduates

$60,000

Private practice

$85,000

Business

$60,000

Government

$46,158

Academic/judicial clerk ships

$45,000

In May 2006, the median annual earnings of ALL(experienced and inexperienced) wage-and-salaried lawyers were $102,470. The middle half of the occupation earned between $69,910 and $145,600. Median annual earnings in the industries employing the largest numbers of lawyers in May 2006 were:

Management of companies and enterprises $128,610

Federal Government $119,240

Legal services $108,100

Local government $78,810

State government 75,840

Salaries of experienced attorneys vary widely according to the type, size, and location of their employer. Lawyers who own their own practices usually earn less than those who are partners in law firms. Lawyers starting their own practice may need to work part time in other occupations to supplement their income until their practice is well established.

the prospects for growth in the field is for growth to be a little slower then job growth as a whole and the competition for jobs is expected to be extremely keen.

EDIT:

Shane has given you some excellent examples...............

so think about what you have heard, read and what you really want to get out of school then proceed on.
Reply:Obviously not doing your research well enough. Fact. The field of law is extremely saturated and for years advisors have been saying to find another field of work. An other career path. It is very true. If you do not graduate from a top tier school at the top of your class and hopefully with some connections you will have a very hard time finding work. Story of 3 of my sisters friends (she's an attorney but finally started her own practice after having difficulty finding work.)

1 - Judy just found a job after graduating almost 2 years ago with a not for profit organization in White Plains, NY. Her starting salary is 45K a year. Her debt. Well, will take her forever to pay off. She graduated from CUNY School of Law.

2 - Bill. Lost his job 6 years ago and still has not been able to find work that would even come close to paying him what he use to earn. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School.

3 - Lisa. Quit her job in November of last year after being abused by the senior attorneys. She is still searching for work. She graduated from Touro law school.
Reply:It really depends on where you live. In Washington DC, they're always looking for lawyers. Here in the Detroit area (because the economy is on its can), there are very few lawyer positions available. While it's true that the graduates from the top-tier law schools get recruited for some of the "best" jobs, that doesn't mean that anyone who goes to a "second-rate" law school can't get a job. It shouldn't be a problem for you to find a job or get placed by your law school, but you may have to move. So just bear in mind you may not get the job you want in the city you want...
Reply:It truly helps your legal career if you attend a major top tier law school and graduate within the top 2% of your class. Failing that course, you will often end up with a civil service job or some legal store front where the entry legal pay is around $35,000 to $40,000 or as a sole practitioner chasing after personal injury clients.

There are better 7-year options which require a mere 2-years of formal education:

1. Aircraft Flight Engineers - starting salary of $45,000;

2. Paralegals with I.P. or immigration background - starting salary of $50,000.

Good luck!
Reply:Hey man Im in the same predigament as you.....I have been planning on becoming a lawyer for about 6 months (I was 16). Last night my parents really told me to find a major. Thus, I searched the Internet adn called a few people. Unfortuanely, I got the same answer. This being that you either make it big or not. You do need a good law school though, but not only Ivy schools. My cousins who are lawyers said to be a sort of special lawyer. Not just a normal paralegal but like an environmental lawyer. IF you really want a guaranteed job you should become a medical lawyer. However, this is alot of work, considering you must become a full doctor and a full lawyer. It is a person that is a doctor and a lawyer. Alot of schooling, but too be honest you will make a fortune. Im deciding whether or not to do that. What do you think? I need answeres too lol

Hi i am looking to find work that i can do at home to earn a few extra quid such as envelope filling/packing?
Be careful there are a lot of scams out there !

The rule of thumb should be

If they ask for any money up front = scam

If it seems too good to be true then it probably is

Do not pay any money for lists as they are scams

Good luck but please ask yourself would it be economically viable to pay a human to do what can be done by machine or themselves at their own premises.

Have a nice Christmas
Reply:Envelope stuffing is not worth it. Trust me! I don't know any "work at home jobs" But I do know a lot of people that have started home based business so they can work from home. They have a great income coming in. If your interested in something like that, email me and I'd be happy to send you a web site that you can take a look at.

Other than that, just about anything else would be a waste of time from what I've been through!

Good Luck!

I am a US trained and licensed psychiatrist curious what it would take to find work in my profession in Costa?

I am a US trained and licensed psychiatrist looking perhaps to retire to Costa Rice, however would like to continue to work part time. What would be the process to be licensed / credentialed to work as a psychiatrist in Costa Rica. Is that even possible? Thanks!

I am a US trained and licensed psychiatrist curious what it would take to find work in my profession in Costa?
I think it is very possible to become licensed in Costa Rica. You need to contact the Costa Rican College of Physicians (Colegio de Médicos) and bring all your diplomas, transcripts, licensure, etc. from the U.S. and if they find that everything is O.K., you can practice psychiatry in Costa Rica. Everything will have to be translated into Spanish by a Costa Rican certified translator and you will have to have all your documents authenticated in the U.S. before you bring them to Costa Rica.

The website for the Colegio de Médicos is:

http://www.medicos.sa.cr/Inicio/

(it's in Spanish but I'm sure they have bilingual secretaries to reply to your e-mail).
Reply:Oh yeah! they definetely need psychiatrists down there...lotz of crazy people ...haha...I love that country. The lady above answered your question. If you are planning to work for a hospital, there's this place in Pavas that's supposed to be haunted and when I was in HS (about 10 years ago) there was this guy who used to sing and dance in downtown SJ that escaped from that hospital. hahaha...Oh! rumors are that many supernatural things happen in that hospital. Gosh! it's creapy, I remember when my friends and I drove there one time at night. hahaha...anyways, back to your question: "the lady above answered your question."
Reply:I am sorry I do not know the answer to your question but you seem like the person that would know the answer to my question. I had a minor in Psychology when I graduated with a bachelor of art degree in art. If I wanted to continue school at the ripe old age of 47, how many years would it take me to become a psychiatrist?....by the way Costa Rica? That is a great spot! A great career and a great setting....sounds like the best of both worlds! Good luck

Where can I find work in Oil Fields or on offshore rigs as a roughneck?

I've tried rigzone.com and craigslist, and several other sites, and even the oil companies' sites, but I just can't find entry level jobs, only jobs that require previous experience, or engineering or geology degrees. What's the deal?

Where can I find work in Oil Fields or on offshore rigs as a roughneck?
Try applying to companies in Alberta, Canada. We've got almost as much oil up here as the Saudis and the companies are starving for workers!

Where find the work of james feltus 1883-1946? where is the book names?
I'm not sure I follow your question. But he was a minister, so maybe the book you need is the collection of the church he led.

There is one manuscript mentioning him which his at Northwestern State University, "Fanatic cults and Spiritualism form ***** churches": http://www.nsula.edu/watson_library/cghr...

Is it easy for an American to find work in Brasil?

Im english speaking and have two college degrees and massage certificate. I only now un poco portuegese, not enough to have a conversation. I want to move to Rio or within an hour of it. Can I find a good job?

Is it easy for an American to find work in Brasil?
You could try to work at the hotels. As a recepcionist (front desk), concierge, manager, etc. I was born there. Email me if you need more info. Good luck.
Reply:Do as some locals do. Send your resume to some potential employers. Do a bit of searching on the Internet, maybe you can use your college degrees.

Some well known English Schools: Cultura Inglesa, Instituto Cultural Brasil Estados Unidos ...

Good luck!
Reply:If you are married to a Brazilian why are you asking Americans?? he should know better than the rest of us...... well i know employing tourists is prohibited, so get a different type of VISA for starters, and like the Americans tell the Mexicans how do you expect to do anything if you don't speak the language?? and the massages people look for in Rio are the full service type hehehe

But no matter what you'll love Rio De Janeiro
Reply:Better read up on recent political changes in Brazil and most of S.A There's a hint of socialism and anti americanism brewing.
Reply:You should look for a School that offers English as second language. They have a lot of these schools down there. Is like Berlitz here.
Reply:Is not that hard. But as said before, you should try to teach English, as an American, the chances for you to get a nicer and better paid job are higher. I advice you to live far from Rio, the city, I think it's safer. Because Rio is very beautifully city. But the things change there from time to time. Sometimes is really quiet, but sometimes is not. You can see it on the news.

I wish good luck.
Reply:It is not very hard
Reply:Why don't you try to get a job teaching English. You can get paid to teach conversational English in lots of foreign countries. They can learn English and you can brush up on your Portuegese.

Is it easier to find work as an actor in New York City or Los Angeles when first starting out?

I am simply wondering where there is more work available to the beginning actor to determine which city to live in. I am 27 and need to get some good training and get working as quickly as possible.

Is it easier to find work as an actor in New York City or Los Angeles when first starting out?
New York.

Most acting work in L.A. is in the film and television industry, for which you need a lot of training and experience.

In New York, there are a ton of theatre off- and off-off-Broadway that are a bit easier to get cast at than Broadway. Also, the "Law %26amp; Order" programs are filmed there, and they use a ton of theatre talent -- so that could give you the camera cred you need for L.A.

By the way, this info is just from colleagues who have worked in film %26amp; TV -- I'm strictly theatre-based.
Reply:it is often better for the beginning actor to get established somewhere else then move to LA or NYC. Read my profile and write me at my aol address and I will help you.
Reply:work wise you'd probably do better in L.A. but career wise you're better off with New York. You should start on the stage to get a reputation before you head to California for fame.
Reply:They are probably about the same, but in NYC the cost of living is a lot higher.
Reply:Have you considered Las Vegas?

What is the best way to find work in Colombia for the summer?

I'm 20 and native English speaker, my Spanish skills will get me by but thats about it. I would love to work there for a few months to practice Spanish and discover the culture.I go to college but i do not have my degree yet i would like a job so i can afford to stay for 2 months

What is the best way to find work in Colombia for the summer?
You have to have permission to work, which means you have to get a work VISA.. This involves getting the "alien card" (Cedula Extranjeria) and a bunch of paper work. If you are going to Bogota, DAS is on Calle 100 right below Carr. 11. This is at least an all day process..

The best, easiest opportunity is probably to teach English at some place like Berlitz.. Dont email, youll NEVER get a response.. call or go there in person.
Reply:Todd Ed is absolutley correct except DAS, a whole day !!! mmmmm nope more like about 2 - 3 days. You have to be there by about 5am or the lines are horrendous. Also it is exceptionally difficult to get permission to work in Colombia and they are really against anyone trying to work illegally. It really isn´t worth trying to do that. It took me about 6-8 months to finally get permission to work in the medical world here (as well as a mountain of paperwork) which surprised me. Also the wages for unskilled people are very very low.

Todd Ed, I also live in both Houston and Bogota and ring Bogota about twice a day from Texas. I discovered a thing called COMFI Phone cards. Very very cheap both for landlines and cell phones. A good investment..
Reply:I would apply on private highschools and kindergardens as an English teacher. Look at hotels too, like Marriot and others...

I want to find work in Belgium but not sure how to go about it.?

I will be done with massage therapy school in April of 2009. I'd love to go to Europe (preferably Belgium because that is where my brother lives) and work there in a spa or somewhere doing massage therapy. Does anybody know of websites I can get on to find employment and what sort of qualifications you have to have? Thanks so much in advance!

I want to find work in Belgium but not sure how to go about it.?
When you come to Belgium you need to have put up your residency and Visa. (depending from what country you are)

It helps when you know someone before you come like your brother as then you can put his name as a sponsor on the paper work.

When you are registered in a city have a visa and a pre-workpermit you can go for job hunting.

Professional Massage parlours are not that big in Belgium, we have some smaller ones that are run by the owner without no staff.

So finding a job in that sector will not be easy however you might set it up for your self as an independent. this could mean your degree that you will get in 2009 is not going to be sufficient and you need to take extra courses in business management.

Good luck, Belgium is a nice place to stay and to start a business, it is not easy but it gives satisfaction...
Reply:You will have to have a WORK visa... you can't just go to Belgium or any OTHER country and start working because the authorities WILL find you and they WILL deport you... at YOUR EXPENSE.

I lived in Bruxelles for 2 years and knew a lot of AmeriKans who came there thinking they were going to get a job... and they were ALL caught for working illegally.

Even the Post Office spies on you. If you rent an apartment and start receiving mail and your name is not on the 'list', you WILL be reported and you can expect a visit by the guys in the black trenchcoats and a visit to the Palais du Justice.
Reply:Yfou should realize that as a non EU citizen, it will be extremely difficult to obtain a work permit. Apart from that as an independent entrepreneur you need a degree in your speciality and a degree in business administration.

The Belgian government has a special department to find jobs for Belgians, but I don´t know whether this works for foreigners. Try vdab in google. Good luck
Reply:it is NOT difficult to obtain work permit, it just takes time!

you just have to apply well i advance. Two month i'd say.

I have exhausted my job search in Chicago, how can I start to find work in other cities?

this is just getting out of control. I need to find a job that fits me and I am not finding it in Chicago. All I am finding are scam jobs on the career websites and no listings in the newspaper. When I try to look on the newspaper websites, they direct me right back to the stupid careerbuilder, monster SCAM jobs. How can I start to find employment in other cities. Whats the normal relocation process for moving to another city? Did the company help you?

I have exhausted my job search in Chicago, how can I start to find work in other cities?
What kind of job are you looking for exactly? I'm a recruiter, and I know for sure there are plenty of jobs in Chicago. However, the Internet is definitely not the best way to find them. If you're more specific with what you're looking for, it's easier to help you...
Reply:Since we have no way of knowing what type of job you are looking for, I will take a gentle stab at this.

Did you try networking with others in your field. If you are an Engineer, trying connecting with Engineer Professionals, or if the job is for an Administrative Assistant or secretary, check out the local agencies that work with AA's like Office Team, Today's Staffing. Check Craiglist for jobs under the specific job title.

If you have extra time on your hands, you could outsource your skills - if you type, think about creating a flyer and handing out at colleges and typing papers for college students, target Chicago State University, Roosevelt University, Columbia College or other colleges close to your area.

Check out www.idealist.org for jobs if you are looking for a community based job.

Do you have great organizational skills? Then if you have access to the internet, can handle Virtual AA duties, then create an ad and post on Craiglist List and see if others may need a good Virtual Administrative Assistant. For a flat fee this could tie you over.

Do you write? Associated Content is always seeking writers and if your writing is great, they will pay you via PayPal.

Have you tired getting a head hunter, if there's specific job you are seeking.

If you are looking outside of Chicago, remember to ask the company for a relocation fee (if it's a corporate job).

Check with local colleges (here) on any upcoming job fairs and attend. Make sure your resume is clear/focused and no longer than 2 pages. Make sure you have your references lined up and they can provide good recommendations for those calling to check the reference.

If you considering relocating, remember to include your fees to relocate and target your new location by researching the city and the income you would need to survive living there day by day -- that would be very important in this case.

Good luck!
Reply:There is no possible way you have exhausted your job search in the city of Chicago. Everything you mention was online. What about the good old fashion way. Put on your Sunday best and hit the streets going door to door. I am an Accountant and I have gotten a job that way, in Louisiana where there really is no jobs. Jobs don't find you. You find them. You have to beat doors down sometimes. Online should be used as a tool, not a source.

I am willing to help wealthy people pick out dvds, music, and books as a job. How can I find work?

I want to work, put me to work!

I am willing to help wealthy people pick out dvds, music, and books as a job. How can I find work?
Try Barnes %26amp; Noble's or Borders... Waldenbooks...etc. You get the drift, right?

Why do you only want to help the wealthy pick out books %26amp; etc.... Don't the middle class need help too??

Maybe you should work on your people skills too.
Reply:Apply to a Borders in a well-to-do area.

Can a US physician find work in europe as a physician?

I am a US general physician who is looking to move to europe, particularly Spain or the UK and work there as a physician. I would like to know if it is possible to do that and also if I have any restrictions as to what fields I can get into. Are there any sites where I can look into this further?
