Is it easier to find work as an actor in New York City or Los Angeles when first starting out?

I am simply wondering where there is more work available to the beginning actor to determine which city to live in. I am 27 and need to get some good training and get working as quickly as possible.

New York.

Most acting work in L.A. is in the film and television industry, for which you need a lot of training and experience.

In New York, there are a ton of theatre off- and off-off-Broadway that are a bit easier to get cast at than Broadway. Also, the "Law %26amp; Order" programs are filmed there, and they use a ton of theatre talent -- so that could give you the camera cred you need for L.A.

By the way, this info is just from colleagues who have worked in film %26amp; TV -- I'm strictly theatre-based.
Reply:it is often better for the beginning actor to get established somewhere else then move to LA or NYC. Read my profile and write me at my aol address and I will help you.
Reply:work wise you'd probably do better in L.A. but career wise you're better off with New York. You should start on the stage to get a reputation before you head to California for fame.
Reply:They are probably about the same, but in NYC the cost of living is a lot higher.
Reply:Have you considered Las Vegas?
