Our situations are a little different I moved from Roanoke Va. to California and joined a union. The union being the difference I have to go threw them for a job, and don't have to write in what applications I filled out for the week, so if thre isnt a job at the hiring hall i can stay home. Anouther thing to add is the fact that its a trade union which obviously relys on the building going on at the time, if there isnt any then you have to go where there is. But yes you should be able to get Va. unemployment because of the time you worked there. I don't remember everything I had to fill out but I was going to move back to Va. but decided against it after about a month , but i received ca. unemployment the time I was there. below is a site that might help
Reply:If you worked for 40 years why didn't you retire? If you quit your job to move then you cannot collect. If you were layed off then yes you should be able to collect.
Reply:You collect from the state where you're eligible. I would assume this to be Virginia.
