Can a 20 year old find work as a property manager?

I am thinking about taking a property managment course. I was wondering if I would have a problem getting work because Im 20 years old. Im very responsible and mature but I think my age would be a turn off to anyone seeking property managment. Any suggestions?

it means having to deal with irate tenants and workmen whose cheques may have bounced. balancing books and dealing with the property owners if rent is late. its a lot to take on young shoulders. maybe as well as doing the course you could do courses in diy as well. you could get a call on xmas eve to fix a leaking tap and if you cant get a plumber you have to do it yourself
Reply:I don't see why you would have any problems. Just have to be desensitized... what I mean is having the courage to kick out tenants who cannot make the rent because feeding their hungry kids is first priority.
Reply:Give it a shot. 20 years is young, as you say. But I've known some remarkably mature young people- and some older ones who act like poorly trained spoiled brats.

Reply:Well, you won't be 20 for long and the course will help...you may have to settle for an assistant or reception position first. Don't be discouraged, though!
Reply:Nobody will start off as a manager. As someone else stated, you will probably get an assistant job to begin with.
Reply:The first job is the hardest since you have no experience. Speak to the property owners and see if training is enough. How do they know you are responsible and mature? I don't think anyone applying for a job will say I'm not responsible and act like a kid.
