How easy is it for non-Argentineans to find work in Buenos Aires?

My girlfriend is 23. She is Brazilian living in Spain with Spanish DNI. She speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese and has excellent English. She is looking to work in Buenos Aires for a minimum of 9 months. Is there any work available? Would she need a visa? How much might she expect to earn?

How easy is it for non-Argentineans to find work in Buenos Aires?
She might have luck if she offers herself as a Portuguese teacher. A native speaker is very appreciated. Of course, she will need to know HOW to teach the language, but since she has studied other languages, too, that shouldn't be difficult for her.





If she does that, she may earn a good amount of money.
Reply:Like in every country, to work legally you need a visa "valid for work".


On the other hand Argentina is known for having many people working "en *****" (for the law, you don't work in that company), so you get paid in cash and you may have no benefits (like vacation, insurance, etc). Moreover, forget about getting paid for overtime.


If she speaks spanish, portuguese and english she should be able to get a job 'en *****'


She should not expect a big salary (my best guess is under U$S500) and how she looks (pretty, skiny, etc) is a huge factor; sad but true.
Reply:If you are from Mercosur (Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay and Paraguay) you don´t need a Visa to work in any of these countries.





Probably "spanish", "portuguese" and "english" are the most spoken languaje in Argentina, so it´s great to speak each 3 languages.





There a lot of tourists in Argentina, considering she is young, it will be easy to find a job.





But you may also consider to work in a brasilian company based on Argentina (believe, there are a lot of Brasilian companies in Arg).





Regarding salary, of course, it depends on the job, but no way to expect earning the same she is earning in Spain.

Reply:Very difficult; the employers there in Argentina need to prove that there is not a local or native person who can perform the same job requirements. It's an old law that is being more and more inforced these days due to the crash.





The best approach is to look at teaching opportunities prior to getting there. Otherwise, she will only get a "tourist" visa and good for 3 months.
Reply:she should be able to get a job at a restuarant, bar, or languange institute and she should be ok. not all these places require visas. many pay under the table and would be happy to receive a good employer
