How can i find work in Barbados?

Having just returned and not wanting to leave i realise i would love to work abroad on an island like this for 6months/1 year, how do i go about finding a job/visa etc? I work in the Beauty/spa industry.

How can i find work in Barbados?
As a Barbadian, living on the island, I can tell you that it is not at all difficult to live and work here, rent is pretty expensive but other that that, it is ok. I'm thinking that it might be best for you to rent a station and set up your own salon while you are here, working for other people in this particular industry does not pay very well on the island. You will have to go to the Immigration department on Wharf Road in Bridgetown to apply for a work permit(hardly anybody is ever denied), other than that you should be good to go. Barbados is an open society, we welcome just about everybody so if you are not a serial killer or something like that all should be well.
Reply:register with the local employment exchange
Reply:You can look in the Nation or Advocate for job classifieds for one. Or you can simply apply at local businesses that do what you do. There are many spas, and even more hotels, which often have spa services. Try the hotels. For information about the visa and work permit try this website:

Reply:Try to get a couriers job in Barbados with a travel agent in your own country.
Reply:If you are any good at what you do, you can just move there and set up shop in your home... and eventually they will catch up with you and deport you... but it may take a few years... things move very slowly in the caribbean.
Reply:There a great place in St.James called The Almond Club and Spa its great I stayed there in April.... They have a beauty parlour and spa treatment rooms if you go to their web site, maybe you could drop them an e-mail letting them know that you are interested in working for them..... Good luck its a beautiful island.....
Reply:Try through the personnel departments of some of the resorts there...
Reply:when you find information let me know, i want to live and work there. all i have is a bachelor degree
Reply:try the strip on st lawerence gap,you could sell pot there but be careful not to tread on the local dealers feet
