Why is it so difficult to find work?

I have plenty of experence behind a cash register, and some office experence. However is seems very difficult to find work.

Why is it so difficult to find work?
It depends where you're looking. It's always harder when you're out of work to get back into the workforce. Also, employers who might want you may not know where to find you.

There's also things like company culture, nepotism, unadvertised jobs, how to tell a legit position from one that they "have to advertise", and other things that sometimes our teachers and parents assume we know.

The average job search takes 11 months in the US, and that's nothing new. Some people search before they leave school, or before they leave their old job, and so aren't unemployed as long as others.

Try reading the book "which color is your parachute" for some job search tips (and hundreds more reasons why it's hard to find work). I wish I wrote it.
Reply:With the low unemployment rate it shouldn't be that difficult to find work.

Keep looking. Unless your area/town has a remarkably high rate of unemployment something should happen for you before long.

Walk in and tell the manager that you would be a good worker and would like the job. That will go a long way.
Reply:Because the US is in a huge decline. Yes the politicians tell you that everything is getting better, and they are RIGHT, if you ONLY look at the numbers. Unemployment is at an ALLTIME high. Michigan is still reporting a 7-8% unemployment rate. Now that ONLY counts the people ON unemployment, or waiting on unemployment. What they dont tell you is after 9months you will not receive unemployment (thats with an extension). Michigan has been reporting 7-8% unemployment for nearly 2 years now. So it's more like 15-20% unemployment. These numbers are staggering across the country. The reason is so many companies are "Allowed" out outsource to other countries and keep their main office in the US, avoiding taxation. (thank bush for that one) With our jobs being given to foreigners who work for the equiv of 50cents an hour, and no huge taxes to pay for shipping your product back into the country, the "Workers" are being screwed. Untill someone fixes the "Bush" mess their wont be much for anyone who doest make 300k a year, cept kissing *** and begging.
Reply:I don't know if you would be interested in Merchandising work but their is a site you can go that list jobs from all the big company's, and they usually pay very well. You can go their and do a free profile. They will also want you to take a test that costs 10.00 but i didn't and i found a good job I've been with for 5 years. you can search for work by your State, and sometimes the E-mail you with Jobs. Just trying to help.
Reply:It's not, maybe your expectations are too high.
