Will it be easy for an Australian to find work in Toronto?

I have a work visa and am wondering it be easy to find bar/buss/cleaning/labor/customer service work in Toronto. Most job sites I have looked at dont have to much but I'm guessing its a person to person type thing and word of mouth? am I right?

You're better off going to Alberta. That province is DESPERATE for people. 60-65% of the workforce are out of province. I mean, come on, when mcdonalds offers $100 signing bonus, you know they need people to work. Waitering at a respectible restaurant earns you a $500 signing bonus, plus tons of incentives to stay like a paid trip to Mexico. Plus, this city's full. We need people to move out, actually...
Reply:It's hard to get a job in Toronto, even if you're Canadian. There's a lot of competition out there.

For non-professional jobs like the ones you mentioned it might be a bit easier. If you have professional work experience I suggest you "dumb down" your resume. Don't make yourself look too experienced in a job above the one you're applying to. It makes the prospective employer worry that you're just filling time until you find the job you're really looking for and then you'll quit. Also, you do need SOME experience, so it's a thin line.

Good luck!
Reply:when I moved here (from holland, 7 years ago) my dad hired a headhunter, a person who helps you find a job.

they told us that we should move near toronto because it's a big city and would probably be the place where my dad would find a job. well he ended up finding a job in Kitchener which is like an hour away from toronto. so it really depends on what you are looking for and the availability.....good luck
Reply:You should be right it s a word of mouth thing.
