Has anyone else ben having a hard time finding work in Michigan right now? I have an english degree and have been working temporary jobs in the office setting but haven't had anything to do for over a month and a half. What's your strategy? Just work at a gas station or the mall until you find something for what ur worth or invest the extra time into looking for a better job?
How to find work in Michigan?
Hello fellow Michigander. I just graduated and I'm in the same boat. What are you aiming for with your degree? try Monster, Craigslist, browsing newspapers, etc. If you are looking to do something specific- try sending a resume/cover letter to those types of businesses in your area, and call and FOLLOW-UP. Especially in Michigan's economy, you need to be proactive- most listed jobs have tons of people applying for them because so many are unemployed. You need to stand out.
To pay the bills while you are searching, I would take a job at a gas station/mall and search in your spare time. If you are considering this, apply soon! All those "College" kids are coming back for the summer and snap up those jobs quickly
Reply:I've tried several places online. Make sure you create a dummy email address for your resumes on some of those websites mentioned. I'm still getting spam.
Getting your profile on some of the networking sites might be a better choice, perhaps one of your friends already on the site has something for you.
